Lovely and elegant Chanderi Dupatta with Dabu Handblock print done in Indigo dyes with zari border.
"Dabu" is a resist handblock printing technique. The process begins with creating a design on a fabric using a mixture of clay, gum, and lime. This mixture is known as "dabu." The wooden blocks are then dipped into the dabu mixture and stamped onto the fabric. After printing, the fabric is left to dry in the sun. The areas covered with the dabu mixture resist the dye, creating a pattern on the fabric. The fabric is then dyed, and the areas without the dabu mixture absorb the dye, resulting in a colored pattern on the fabric. Once the dye has set, the fabric is washed to remove the dabu mixture, revealing the final design.
These dupattas are traditional yet contemporary and can be worn and teamed with any Indian or western outfit.
